It's a Rainbow!

It's me again.  I wanted to tell you about a beautiful something and you probably have guessed what I'm going to talk about from the title.  A rainbow!  While I was in Safed, {Tzfat} I saw a rainbow.  The SECOND rainbow I've seen this trip in Israel.  A picture of the first one is on the cover of the blog at the top if you scroll all the way up.  It happened while we were leaving.  Look and then I'll tell you something amazing about this rainbow.

Strong huh?  But guess what?  Guess how long it lasted?  That rainbow lasted 20 MINUTES!  Not seconds, MINUTES!  20 MINUTES!  We saw it until we arrived at a place where we had dinner before heading back to the Kinneret guesthouse we were staying at and if you're wondering what the Kinneret is.....you'll find out soon enough.

Candles, Candles, and More Candles

So...... Ready to see and hear about something amazing that I've done and forgotten to put on this blog?  I bet you are!  I took a trip to a place called Safed, {Tzfat} and saw a number of amazing things.  One of them is this:  I went to a place in Tzfat called Tzvat Candles.  It's a store with nothing but candles inside.  I wouldn't be surprised if the whole building was made of wax!  But then it would melt in the sun.  Basically, people stay at a factory all day and work with wax to make candles.  Then they bring them to the store and other people sell them.  Let's see what you think:

Noo?  {Well?}  What do you think?  It took me a long time to figure out which pictures to put on, they're all so special.  Can you imagine, all of those things were made with wax!  {even the Firebolt brooms from the Harry Potter series} I wanted one of the little ones like a duck, book, or owl.  But I couldn't because I wouldn't be able to light it.  It makes sense though.  You don't want to watch a little peguin or book burn!  And besides, they cost a lot of money.  It was fun looking at them though.  We bought new Shabbat candles and Jonah and I were allowed to buy one small candle that we could light because it wasn't one of the tiny, tiny ones.  I had a wonderful time in the world of candle making!  More blogging to be done soon!

Animals Galore reprise

Hi.  I'm thinking that you would wonder why I'm using Animals Galore as a title again.  Well, it's about some other animals.  At my school, there is a petting zoo.  I went with my mom and Jonah one day.  I got to pet arnavim, {rabbits} achbarim, {mice} a lizard, and a snake.  I held an achbar, {mouse} and the snake around my neck.  It peed on me!  EEEEWWWW!!!!  When you hold an achbar, {mouse} it runs on your hands and you have to be very careful.  Jonah and I put a turtle inside its box.  We saw birds and ferrets, imagine, so many animals inside one tiny room!

As Dead As You Can Get

Finally :)  I got to go to the Dead Sea! :)  It all started on Monday, April 10th.  We had gotten home from climbing Masada and cleaned up and were packing up to leave.  Once all of us were ready, we drove off for a  minute ride to a beach where we were to swim in the Dead Sea. :)  It was hard to get ready.  I didn't...well, I got all the way to the desert and I realized I didn't have a bathing suit!  So anyway, there was this souvenir shop and it didn't open untill 11:00 and so we had to wait.  Grammy, Papa, Jonah and my dad got to go in while my mom and I went to look for a bathing suit and find a bathroom.  When we got back I had on a bathing top and my shorts.  I had to go in in my shorts.  I was worried about some cuts that I had because I heard that going into the Dead Sea :) with cuts could hurt you.  It was also smart to wear shoes in the Dead Sea :) or else the rocks would hurt your feet.  So I stepped into the Dead Sea :) and my feet didn't hurt at all.  The water felt nice because it was a hot day.  I stood in the water for about 5 minutes and got used to it.  Then, just when I thought I would turn back and get out of the water, {I was a little bit scared} my dad showed me how to float on your back.  The water pushes you up because the water is about 33% salt.  Anyway, the water was up to my shorts now and I figured I might as well do it.  I was this close and I couldn't turn back then.  So I got in and I was pushed up by the water and it felt sooooo weird!  My dad held on to me so I wouldn't float away!  In the end I convinced him that he could let go of me and if I started to float away, he could grab me.  This is how awesome it was!

It was soooo fun!  I wasn't so comfortable after but you've got to remember, don't get thirsty in the Dead Sea!
P.S. in the last picture, I wasn't crying, I was having a good time!

The Hike

Today, Monday, April 10th, I woke up in a hostel in the south in the desert, at about 4:35 in the morning.  In the bed across from me, Jonah was lying asleep.  In the bed diagonal from me, my mom and dad rested.  My mom woke up and I whispered to her, "It is 4:35. Shouldn't we get up now?"  "Sure," said my mom.  So we got up and once my mom, my dad, Grammy, Papa, Jonah, and I had gotten up, we started toward our cars.  Once everyone was in the cars, we started to a place called Mt. Masada.  Finally.  We got to Masada and started up.  In about a half an hour we saw the sun as it started to rise on the horizon.

It was amazing!  What do you think?  Cool!  Anyway, Jonah and my dad were really fast and they went way ahead of Grammy, Papa, Mommy and me.  Well, as much work as it was, we got to the top in the end.  I forgot to mention that this hike was about 45 minutes to an hour.  It was a long hike, but worth it.  This is the order in which we arrived at the top:  Jonah and Daddy, Liana, Grammy, Papa, Mommy.

It was amazing but I think we all needed showers afterwards!  Watch!

The Amazing Museum

It's me again!  I wanted to tell you about some of the things that I've done and I haven't written about on this blog yet.  I went with my dad to a museum called The Bible Lands Museum.  It was pretty cool and I learned a lot.  I don't remember so much because it was a while ago.  All that I remember is that I was taught a hard word to read and I nailed it in the the end!  But I don't remember what it meant.  You were given a map and you had to follow the instructions on how to get from place to place in the museum.  Let me put out some pictures and then see what you think.

Huh?  What do you think?  I think it was
pretty fun!  Oh wait, I forgot something!
This part is for my fourth grade class.  The
last picture is of me reading a long story.  Above the
story is a huge model of three pyramids and the
largest one is of the Great Pyramid, something that we
learned about in one of our lessons in Wordly Wise
which I thought was pretty awesome!

Eesh Yarok Ve Eesh Adome

You are probably wondering:  What does the title of this mean anyway?  Well, you are about to find out.  An eesh is a man in Hebrew and yarok and adome are colors.  Yarok is green and adome is red.  This story takes place during and before the Jewish holiday, Purim.  For those of you who aren't Jewish, Purim is a holiday where you get to dress up as something and parade around in it.  It's like Halloween exept without the candy, although, sometimes candy  is included in the Purim carnivals to add to the fun.  Anyway, I couldn't think of anything to be for Purim and it was so close that I figured I might as well be nothing.  But, my dad came up with an idea.  Since on that day I figured I could put on a lot of my green clothes and I decided to be a green person, and we had to wear costumes to school that day anyway, my dad said:  Why don't we be the red and green people that show up on the walk/don't walk signs when we are and aren't alowed to cross the street on a cross walk?  You love green and I could be red!  So that day, me and my dad went to some stores and a mall to get some green and red clothing and fun things to add to our costumes.  In the end we looked like this:

Well, what do you think?  Pretty funny right?  Well, more blogging to be done!

My Choir Experience

On Wednesday, April 6th, I went to school with my grandma, who is in town with my grandpa, and my mom.  When we got to school, we were greeted by Gefen, one of my friends.  She told my mom that today was a zimria with our choir.  I got excited but I was also tired because the night before I'd come home from the northern part of Israel which will be explained in another post on this blog.  So my mom ran home and got me a white shirt and black pants for our choir uniform.  I quickly changed and all of the choir, plus the teacher, Ellen, piled into an ottoboose, which is Hebrew for bus.  We drove for about twenty minutes or so and when we arrived at the place where the zimria would be, we went in and sat down, waiting for the start.  We sang songs together and other choirs performed for us.  And at the end, we got to perform for the other choirs!  It was really exciting and fun. Well, more blogging to be done soon!
